Re-rolling stat rolls

I was really excited to grind 180 arena tokens for the purple spear, until it came up with 22 Spirit as its only roll.

This is an example, but I have a couple of other pieces of gear that I don't like the rolls on. I don't think it's fair to have to purchase the item all over again for a chance at better rolls or a different passive skill roll.

Could something like the Forgemaster be added for re-rolling item stats for gold? It would add some padding to endgame in the form of another gold sink, lengthening the time required for players to reach an unstoppable, critical mass (like Khor COUGHCOUGHCOUGH).

I'm not using purple gear :P im using dungeon gear, the BEST dungeon gear with the BEST stats i could get after looting THOUSANDS of drops from the dungeon.

The game DOOOES need a gold sink, but this is also prime cash territory since its just a convenience and a bit of luck rather than power.

Could make it so you can only re-roll an item once or twice with gold, then need cash currency, that'd be fair. Its a great way to nickel and dime too, if it was a quarter to re-roll the stats on an item just about everyone with paypal would do it.


You should also get that cough looked at.
If I were to create a nickel and dime system for re-rolling stats, I would allow users to pay a flat gold fee to re-roll stats based on ilvl. Users could then pay a premium fee to "lock" certain stats so they aren't lost during the re-roll.

Regardless of how it's implemented, I think we can both agree something like this needs to happen ya?

i like that too :P i prefer games that nickel and dime you because its more of a buyers market, a few bucks can get you a lot of small things every now and then, rather than buying 10$ outfits ><. Although i dont think one could re-roll double stats... Locking + crit rate and trying to re-roll crit rate could be bad.
Hmm... we'll think about this.

More viable solution may just be to add a specific stat (probably vitality) to the arena sets, like how the dungeon sets roll.

SQ rolls aren't like your standard ARPG rolls. The stats are random, yes, but the values are based on iLvl with a small (~20%) variation. So, even though your spear has only spirit on it, it's roughly the same amount of "weight" you'd get regardless.

Basically, this means that every item you get - even if not perfect - should be viable. Adding a re-roll system might trivialize the grind for the best gear.

Also, the arena needs a lot of re-balancing, in general!
